LGBTea You Missed Last Week

Hey everyone! Thanks for checking back with us. Here’s the queer tea from last week!

1. It’s been long rumored in the lesbian community that The Ellen is actually not super great in real life. I’ve resisted that rumor for many years, but then the George W. Bush stuff happened and the light racism happened and then the awkward stand up about how she’s super rich happened and now it’s just like… okay Ellen you are sucking. Now there’s Ellen Coronavirus drama, and I’m over it! Stop pretending Ellen! The people have spoken! Take off the crown already and bestow it upon Kate McKinnon, our new and far less problematic queen of lesbian comedy.

2. Lil Nas X, brilliant musician behind the iconic Old Town Road remix, has leaked info about his next album. He’s vowed that he will be “exploring queer identity” and that he “wants to represent the LGBT community.”

3. We’d be remiss to not give Leslie Jordan a shout out. You may recognize him from Will & Grace or American Horror Story, but he’s reaching a wider audience now. The gay character actor has made a name for himself during the Coronavirus shut down by sharing relatably hilarious content on his Instagram. He calls us “fellow hunker-downers,” instantly creating a name for his new fan club we’re all a part of. His videos range from exercise fails to late night ambien rants, so obviously we can’t get enough.

4. The endless thirst traps succeeded: Antoni from Queer Eye is getting his own Netflix show about… his dating life. Macaroni and cheese for two, anyone?

5. Queer artists Sam Smith and Demi Lovato teamed up and recruited Drag Race stars for their new music video that was just released. The song is called “I’m Ready” and I’m ready for you all to discover it!

6. Don’t travel to Russia, where a full ONE IN FIVE Russians want to “eliminate homosexuals.” Yiiikes. While you’re making your travel plans, you’ll also want to pause on Peru, who just had to admit the torture of transwoman Azul Rojas Marin.

7. We’re only 5 days out from a new season of Vida! If you don’t know about the show go check out our streaming guide

We’ll be back with more queer pop culture and news next week! As always feel free to send us submissions!
